Entrepreneurship Applied To Financial Services: A subject for future leaders

On the topic of subjects in the Master of Fintech program at IFI, let's meet with Professor Werner Krings to have a closer look at the main subject Entrepreneurship Applied To Financial Services. Professor Krings is currently a lecturer at Normandie School of Management (France), and a Fintech expert with more than 28 years of experience in consulting, business development, and banking services.

According to the Investopedia dictionary, an entrepreneur is an individual who creates a new business, bearing most of the risks and enjoying most of the rewards. Thus, the process of setting up a business is known as entrepreneurship. In other words, Entrepreneurship is not far from a survival kit for leaders and managers so that they have an overview of the process of operating a business.

Professor Werner Krings (EM Normandie School of Management, France), is currently a lecturer in Entrepreneurship Applied To Financial Services of the Master's program in Banking, Finance and Financial Technology (Fintech) at IFI. He has more than 28 years of experience in consulting, business development, and public banking services.

Being launched recently, the program has brought many breakthroughs, one of these highlights is the subject of Entrepreneurship Applied To Financial Services. “IFI and EM Normandie School of Management have agreed that Entrepreneurship Applied To Financial Services is an indispensable subject of the program for future leaders", said Mr. Krings. In this subject, students learn sets of necessary skills through the mindset of successful entrepreneurs and leaders in many different fields, including building trust, planting ideas in someone's mind, negotiating to convince partners, applying tools and models to startups, learning diplomatic skills to establish social relationships, developing basic to advanced skills such as individual work, teamwork, document research,... These are indispensable skills for promotion and success for all individuals working in any field.

In addition to the basic values of the subject, he added, Entrepreneurship Applied To Financial Services creates opportunities for students who have been and are working in the banking industry to learn from each other and apply the knowledge to their work.

Professor Krings said that most of the students of the Fintech Master's program at IFI are bankers or working in digital technology. They study Fintech mainly in order to reach further career goals, as this subject is a combination of relevant tools that equips them with the knowledge to climb to high-level positions such as Director of Strategy, Sales Director,...

He continued, “Those who are well-trained in the field of Entrepreneurship can quickly adapt and take on leadership roles in financial associations, banks, businesses, etc. In the future, the demand for high-quality personnel will be increasingly high”. IFI is now placing a strong focus on connecting with businesses to invite them to the advisory board and work with IFI to train promising employees in the industry.

The Fintech industry has been and will be the dominant trend in the field of banking, finance and technology in Vietnam in the coming years, especially in the setting that the wave of digital transformation is sweeping over the banking systems in Vietnam. Under the circumstances, Prof. Krings believes that an employee having thorough knowledge of Fintech not only has an edge over others, especially in the digital era, and receives tempting job offers, but also reduces the unpredictable risks in the first phase of startup and operating the business later.
