IFI - a quarter century of development

Institut de la Francophonie pour l’Informatique was established under the agreement between the Vietnam Government and Francophonie University Association (AUF) in 1993 with the main academic program: Master of Information Technology (IT) in French. After 26 years, the IT Master program has been a traditional and highly prestigious part of IFI. So far, IFI has produced more than 600 students from 30 countries, about 50% of them have gone on to PhD level in developed countries.)
PUF Hanoi was created under the agreement between the government of Vietnam and France in 2004. From 2006 to 2014, PUF Hanoi organized French courses, with 726 students graduating. On January 23, 2015, PUF Hanoi was renamed the Training Management Center under the direct control of the IFI. Until now, PUF Hanoi has organized 8 academic programs in Management, Finance, Social Studies, Law and Tourism with a total of 726 students.
In addition, IFI also has many achievements in scientific research as well as international research cooperation, done especially with partners in the Francophone Community.
The Institut de la Francophonie pour l’Informatique has changed its name to the International Francophone Institute according to the decision No 4299 /QĐ- ĐHQGHN /2016 of VNU Director on the activities expansion and IFI's development into a high-quality interdisciplinary research and training organization.
After 26 years, IFI has organized 11 academic programs, with 01 bachelor's program, 09 master's programs and 01 doctoral's program with more than 1,300 students. All the programs are complied with European standards and are internationally recognized. Currently, IFI has become an interdisciplinary training and research organization with the highest internationalization in Vietnam.
With the new vision and strategy, IFI has created an organizational structure for sustainable development including:
a. Center for University Programs Management and Continuing Education (IFI - PUF)
b. 5 laboratories belong to 2 research labs:
1. New and Emerging Technologies Laboratory
2. MSI Laboratory
3. Information and Communication Laboratory
4. Financial Technology Laboratory
5. Interdisciplinary Research Laboratory
c. Center for Consulting and Technology Transfer (IFI-BRAIN)
d.Scientific journal “La Francophonie en Asia – Pacifique” (FAP), in cooperation with Aix-Marseille University, France.
Currently, IFI has become a multidisciplinary higher education and research institution with the function of promoting and developing education, research and technology transfer activities of Francophone Community half of Asia-Pacific as well as other countries all around the world.
