In his opening speech, Mr. Ngô Tự Lập, President of IFI emphasized: "Retail banking for the mass market is a relatively modern field of banking in the world, dating back to the 1960s when ATMs and credit cards appeared. The international training program in retail banking (CIRB.UK) with the goal of being customer-centric is the training cooperation program between IFI and the Vietnam International Trade & Investment Promotion Center (VITIP). International training program CIRB.UK will provide retail banks at all levels in Vietnam with professional training courses in both Vietnamese and English. Certified International Retail Banker (CIRB.UK) of RBI is designed to be a passport that brings students to success in the banking sector in general and retail banking in particular”.
Maria Nguyễn, General Director of VITIP said: “According to the financial report of the second quarter of 2022 of 30 domestic banks, as of June 30, the total number of employees working in the entire system reached more than 315,500 people, increasing by 3.1% compared to the end of the previous year. The potential for retail banking in Vietnam is still huge. Vietnam has a large fiscal space for retail development compared to other countries in the region, according to Mirae Asset Securities. This is both an opportunity and a challenge for businesses, especially the retail banking industry to improve customer service and attract new users. There is no exception to this rule when it comes to human resource management. It has always been human beings who have played a pivotal role in the success of a business. Catching up with the consequences of the industrial revolution 4.0 is a problem not only for banks but also training institutes, regulators, and workers themselves”.
Paul Griffith, former Director of the Master's program in Fintech, contributed to the success of the program in Vietnam. Mr. Paul expressed his delight and hope that the cooperation between IFI and VITIP would bring about practical benefits to banks and experts in the banking industry in general. About the program, Mr. Paun stated: "CIRB.UK is RBI's foundation program in the retail banking sector with three levels from primary to advanced (Primary international retail banking; Intermediate international retail banking; Advanced international retail banking). The program framework meets the needs of nowaday banking jobs with the rapid change of digital transformation, as well as enhances knowledge and skills for bank officers and those who are and are about to become senior managers and executives in banks or businesses and organizations with related professions. The curriculum broadly introduces the retail banking concept and mentions the major opportunities and challenges that this industry has to deal with, including digital transformation; competition; partnerships with Fintech and BigTech; the global crisis due to climate change, and the bank's role in addressing these issues”.
