“Internationalization of Higher Education beyond English?” is one of the activities within the event celebrating the 15th anniversary of the agreement for the establishment of PUF – Pôle Universitaire Français at Hanoi, a member of International Francophone Institute (2004-2019). At the same time, this conference is also an event in the series of seminars DAAS (Diderot Advanced Academic Seminars) organized by the International Francophone Institute. The conference was co-organized by IFI in collaboration with domestic and foreign partners: International and Comparative Education Research Group (ICE), Universiti Brunei Darussalam; Hạ Long University and the Interdisciplinary Centre for the Study of Literature in Aix-Marseille (CIELAM).
This widespread use of the English language as a lingua franca in academic and communication has many advantages, but also creates problems, such as the erosion of cultural diversity and making access to higher education unfair. It creates “Academic colonialism” and creates disadvantages within the education systems of non-English speaking countries.
More than 300 speakers and scientists from universities of Brunei, France, Korea, USA, UK ... and Vietnam were attended this conference.
Scientists were participated in discussions to identify problems, share experiences and propose solutions to promote a sustainable and multilingual international cooperation model on education that contributes to the maintenance of cultural diversity in the world.
This conference focused on common issues on globalization, internationalization and internationalization of education; language issues in teaching and research; experiences of internationalization higher education in multi languages and models of international cooperation on higher education.

Within the framework of the conference, IFI also launched the fourth edition of scientific journal la Francophonie in Asia-pacific (FAP) with the theme: “French and French Speaking Community Higher Education in the context of globalization.”
This interdisciplinary research publication is published by the IFI in partnership with the Presses Universitaires de Provence of the University of Aix-Marseille in France. FAP has the function of publishing highly - qualified scientific articles relating to the Francophone Community in Asia-Pacific. FAP magazine is published twice a year, in March and September and is distributed worldwide in paper and electronic format.
